What is natural rubber
Natural rubber is a type of rubber that is obtained from the latex of rubber trees. The material is often referred to as NR rubber, where NR stands for Natural Rubber.
Unlike synthetic rubbers, natural rubber is produced from a renewable biological source. The latex is collected from the tree and processed into rubber through a series of mechanical and chemical steps.
What are the main properties of natural rubber
Natural rubber is known for its high elasticity, flexibility and excellent resilience. It can stretch significantly and return to its original shape, which makes rubber natural particularly suitable for dynamic applications.
NR rubber also offers good tear strength and abrasion resistance. However, natural rubber has limited resistance to UV radiation, ozone and weathering compared to many synthetic rubber types.
What is natural rubber used for
Natural rubber is commonly used in applications where flexibility and elasticity are more important than resistance to environmental influences. Typical uses include seals, gaskets, vibration damping components and general-purpose rubber parts.
Because natural rubber performs well under repeated movement and mechanical stress, it is widely applied in industrial and technical environments where dynamic behaviour is required.
Is natural rubber resistant to chemicals and weather
Natural rubber has limited resistance to weathering, UV radiation and ozone. Prolonged exposure to sunlight or outdoor conditions can cause rubber natural to age and lose its flexibility.
NR rubber also has restricted chemical compatibility and is generally not suitable for contact with oils, fuels or aggressive chemicals.
What is the maximum temperature of natural rubber
Natural rubber can typically be used in a temperature range from approximately −40 °C up to +80 °C. Within this range, the material maintains its elasticity and mechanical performance under normal operating conditions.
At higher temperatures, natural rubber can lose strength and flexibility over time. The actual temperature limits depend on factors such as exposure duration, mechanical load and environmental conditions.
