What are nitrile rubber strips

Nitrile rubber strips, also referred to as NBR rubber strips or NBR strips, are cut profiles manufactured from nitrile rubber, a synthetic elastomer developed for use in industrial environments. The material is characterised by its resistance to oils and fuels, while maintaining adequate flexibility and mechanical strength. NBR strips are commonly used where contact with hydrocarbons is expected and where controlled material behaviour is required.

When to use nitrile rubber strips

Nitrile rubber strips are used in applications where resistance to oils, greases or fuels is a key selection criterion. NBR strips are suitable for environments in which prolonged contact with such substances occurs, provided that exposure to weathering or ozone is limited. The material is chosen when a balance between chemical resistance and mechanical performance is required in an industrial setting.

Applications of nitrile rubber strips

NBR rubber strips are applied in technical installations and equipment where sealing or isolation components are exposed to oil-based media. Nitrile strips are commonly used in machinery, production equipment and internal systems where material compatibility with lubricants or fuels is necessary. Their use is associated with applications that require reliable performance under continuous contact with industrial fluids.

Nitrile rubber strips (NBR) Specifications

Hardness: 50–90 Shore A
Density: 1.00–1.35 g/cm³
Tensile Strength: 8–16 MPa
Elongation at Break: 150–400 %
Temperature Range: −30 °C to +110 °C
Resistance: oil, fuel, grease

Nitrile rubber has excellent resistance to oil, fuel and grease, but limited resistance to UV, ozone and weathering.
