Applications of PTFE gaskets
Used widely in chemical processing, pharmaceutical and food contact systems, electrical assemblies and instrument lines, PTFE gaskets are often specified as flange gasket material and sealing rings where chemical inertness and dielectric strength are required. Teflon grades are chosen for their corrosion resistance, low friction and ability to minimise contamination; selected grades of ptfe can also address considerations such as reduced permeation or regulatory-facing formulations. PTFE may be less suitable where sustained high compressive loads, frequent dynamic movement or tight anti-extrusion requirements dominate, since creep and limited elastic recovery can affect long-term preload and sealing performance depending on operating conditions.
