Applications of PTFE insulation wires
PTFE (often marketed as Teflon) insulated wires are typically used in demanding electrical assemblies such as aerospace and avionics harnesses, medical instruments, high-frequency signal cabling and industrial equipment exposed to solvents or elevated temperatures. The material is often selected for its chemical inertness, stable dielectric properties across a wide temperature range, low friction and compatibility with silver-plated conductors, which supports reliable signal integrity in confined or harsh environments; components using ptfe benefit from that combination. PTFE may be less suitable where continuous flexing, high mechanical abrasion or very tight bend radius are dominant design drivers, or where a lower-cost insulation option is acceptable, so alternative elastomeric or thermoplastic insulations are often considered.
