What are PTFE rings?
PTFE rings are circular sealing or spacing components manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). They are used in technical and industrial applications where chemical resistance, low friction and dimensional stability are required.
PTFE rings can be supplied as flat cut rings from sheet material or as O-rings with a round cross-section. The material is commonly referred to as PTFE or Teflon.
What are PTFE rings used for?
PTFE rings are used in applications such as static sealing between components, spacer rings in mechanical assemblies, chemical-resistant sealing solutions, low-friction interfaces in sliding systems and insulating rings in technical installations.
What types of PTFE rings are there?
PTFE rings are available in different forms depending on the application. Below is a practical overview of the most common types.
O-rings
PTFE O-rings have a round cross-section and are primarily used for sealing in grooves or between mating surfaces. They are commonly applied in hydraulic, pneumatic and chemical systems where chemical compatibility is required.
PTFE O-rings differ from elastomer O-rings in flexibility and material behaviour, which is why selection depends on the sealing design and operating conditions.
Flat rings
Flat PTFE rings are cut from PTFE sheet material and have a rectangular cross-section. These rings are often used as sealing rings, spacer rings or support rings in static applications.
Flat PTFE rings can be supplied in a wide range of inner and outer diameters and thicknesses, including custom dimensions.
