Applications of PTFE seal tape
Commonly applied to seal pipe and fitting threads in plumbing, gas distribution, HVAC and general industrial pipework, PTFE seal tape is often chosen for its conformability, low-friction surface and broad chemical inertness, which help form leak-resistant joints without interacting with many service media. Installers use ptfe tape on tapered and parallel threads to fill minor thread voids and to ease assembly. It can be less suitable where large gaps, damaged threads or structural joint strength are present, for dynamic or rotating seals, or in certain high-pressure/high-temperature or specialty instrument services where paste sealants, gaskets or other materials may be preferred depending on operating conditions.
