What are sponge rubber gaskets
Sponge rubber gaskets are sealing components manufactured from cellular rubber with an open-cell or closed-cell structure. Unlike solid rubber gaskets, sponge rubber gaskets are highly compressible and designed to seal effectively under low clamping forces.
These sponge rubber sealing gaskets adapt easily to uneven surfaces and are commonly used where flexibility, cushioning and airtight sealing are required.
When do you need sponge rubber gaskets
Sponge rubber gaskets are used when a soft, compressible sealing solution is needed to compensate for surface irregularities or limited bolt pressure. They are particularly suitable for applications requiring vibration damping, noise reduction or dust and air sealing.
These compressible rubber gaskets are typically applied in low-pressure environments and are not intended for high-pressure or high-temperature applications.
Applications of sponge rubber gaskets
Sponge rubber gaskets are applied in enclosures, panels, cabinets and covers within industrial equipment, HVAC systems and electrical installations. They are commonly used as soft rubber gaskets in sealing joints that are opened and closed repeatedly.
Cellular rubber gaskets can be supplied in standard gasket shapes or produced in specific formats to suit particular sealing surfaces and installation requirements.
