What are UHMWPE sheets

UHMWPE sheets are solid plastic sheets manufactured from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. This material is characterised by its extremely high wear resistance, very low coefficient of friction and exceptional impact strength. UHMWPE sheets are used where durable plastic panels are required for sliding, impact or abrasion-intensive applications.

Due to the solid sheet format, UHMWPE sheets are commonly used as base material for machined components or as protective and wear surfaces covering larger areas.

Are UHMWPE sheets plastic?

Yes, UHMWPE sheets are plastic sheets made from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. UHMWPE is a thermoplastic polymer with a unique molecular structure that provides superior wear behaviour and impact resistance compared to standard polyethylene grades.

Properties and applications of UHMWPE sheets

The applications of UHMWPE sheets are directly linked to their mechanical properties. The combination of very high wear resistance and low friction makes the material suitable for wear plates, lining panels and sliding surfaces.

UHMWPE sheets are widely used in applications where large contact surfaces, noise reduction and long service life are required. Their resistance to moisture and many chemicals allows reliable use in both dry and humid environments.
