What is SBR rubber
SBR is a type of synthetic rubber. The abbreviation SBR stands for Styrene Butadiene Rubber. It is one of the most commonly used rubber materials due to its versatility and cost-effectiveness.
SBR rubber is known for its good abrasion resistance and overall mechanical strength. SBR is widely used in applications where basic rubber performance is sufficient and exposure to extreme conditions is limited.
What is SBR rubber used for
SBR is commonly used in general-purpose applications where flexibility, durability and wear resistance are required. Typical uses include seals, gaskets, sheets, mats and rubber components used in industrial and mechanical environments.
Because SBR rubber offers a good balance between performance and cost, it is often selected for applications that do not require high resistance to weathering or chemicals.
Is SBR rubber resistant to weather and UV
SBR rubber has limited resistance to weathering, UV radiation and ozone compared to materials such as EPDM. When exposed to sunlight and outdoor conditions over time, SBR can harden or crack.
For this reason, SBR rubber is mainly used in indoor or protected applications where exposure to environmental influences is minimal.
What is the maximum temperature of SBR rubber
SBR rubber can typically be used in a temperature range from approximately −30 °C up to +90 °C. Within this range, SBR remains flexible and functional under normal operating conditions.
The exact temperature limits of SBR rubber depend on the specific compound and application conditions.
